DJ Vajra – DMC World Champion 2011

This year the crown of turntablism for winning the DMC World Championship 2011 goes to US DJ Vajra!

The DMC World DJ Championship took place at London’s Indig02 this week. The judges of the competition crowned USA DJ Vajra, from Denver, Colorado US as the winner.

Vajra became the proud owner of a gold-plated mixer when he won the world championship in London…

In second place was Izoh from Japan. Also from Japan in third place was Co-Ma. Fourth was JFB from England, fifth place was Brazilian battle DJ Erick Jay, and in sixth place was Denmark’s DJ Graded.

Meanwhile in the competition’s 2011 DMC Battle for World Supremacy (head to head) category first place was Deejay Nelson from France with runner up being Japan’s Norihito.

And in the third category of this big annual turntable battle, the 2011 DMC World Team DJ Battle, the results were: First: Kireek from Japan, Second: Cla Leste from Brazil, and third place USA’s BattleStar (DeeJay Turbulence & Roger Pho aka Phonics!).

DJ Unkut, the first EVER DMC Online Champion could not be competing in the DMC World Final due to health problems. Thats really sad, I would have loved to see DJ Varja and Unkut fight for the crown of turntablism. Get well fast Mr. Unkut!!!

This time NI shows Jamie Lidell performing an iMaschine exclusive version of “A Little Bit More” from the album Multiply (2005, Warp) while relaxing in bed.

The entire performance was done live in one take, with nothing pre-recorded, and no post-production edits made to the song.

Beardyman

Beardyman is awesome… After winning the well renowned Lyric Pad Beatbox Battle twice in 2004, he went on to win the title of London champion and UK runner up in the 2005 Championships and the following year became UK Beatbox Champion 2006.

He successfully defended his title in June 2007 to become the first beatboxer in UK history to win the national championships twice in a row.

In this video, the 5x DMC World Champion showcases the power of the new Traktor Scratch generation by creating a live dubstep remix, controlled by his golden Technics turntables and two controllers.

Kontrol X1 is used to play a live beat using one-shot drum samples in Traktor’s new Sample Decks, while Craze also triggers various other samples and cue points with his custom white Maschine controller. A beat juggling section in the middle leads to the finale where Craze combines fast cue-point juggles and vocal samples with the integrated Traktor effects.

Unkut won the first round of the championship with his Godzilla Porn Routine.

The winner of the Online DJ Championship will join Champions from around the world at the DMC World Finals live event in London on the 6th/7th October 2011.

DMC World Champions LigOne (2010 DMC World Champion), Cutmaster Swift (1989 DMC World Champion) and Switch (3 x DMC World Battle Champion 2008, 2009, 2010) judged the final 10 videos and selected the winner.
