On September 19, 2009 the one and only Grandmaster Roc Raida passed away. He saidly died due to complications relating to a mixed-martial-arts accident.
Roc Raida was an American DJ, turntablist, producer and member of the legendary DJ group, The X-Ecutioners. He won the 1995 DMC World DJ Championship and was inducted into the the DMC Hall of Fame four years later.
After the tragic death of Grand Master Roc Raida, a string of benefit gigs took place, but the one happening in NYC, perhaps has been one of the biggest gathering of scratch DJs seen in a very long time.

One of my favorite Turntablism-Crews is the french crew C2C. C2C have won the DMC world Team Championships a record breaking 4 times, an achievement matched by no other artist in the history of DMC.
DJs Greem, Atom, Pfel & 20Syl make up the French quartet and each use their turntables as instruments recreating drums or bass guitars, scratching a riff of guitar or shearing the brass, to lead to a harmony similar to that of traditional bands.
