Nike Music Shoe

This one is a cool new Japanese commercial campaign for Nike’s Free Run+ running shoes.

The vid shows Hifana playing a creazy live performance with flexible running shoes.

Daito Manabe – Turntablist and Sound Artist from Japan – uses flex sensors and accelerometers to make the shoes interactive and converts the control signal to sound using the modular visual programming environment Max/MSP and Ableton’s Max for Live.

Download the movie and the music from the Nike Music Shoe homepage.

Createdigitalmusic.com also published a good article titled “Bendable, Musical Shoes for Nike, and How They Were Made“. Check it out to find out more about this great idea and some background information.

CAUTION: Shoes sold at retail will NOT make music when bent or twisted!!!
